Cundo ca samaºuddeso ±yasmato s±riputtassa upaµµh±ko hoti. Atha kho ±yasm± s±riputto teneva ±b±dhena parinibb±yi. Atha kho cundo samaºuddeso ±yasmato s±riputtassa pattac²varam±d±ya yena s±vatthi jetavana½ an±thapiº¹ikassa ±r±mo, yen± yasm± ±nando tenupasaªkami, upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ ±nanda½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di, ekamanta½ nisinno kho cundo samaºuddeso ±yasmanta½ ±nanda½ etadavoca “±yasm± bhante s±riputto parinibbuto, idamassa pattac²varan”ti. Atthi kho ida½ ±vuso cunda kath± p±bhata½ bhagavanta½ dassan±ya, ±y±m±vuso cunda, yena bhagav± tenupasaªkamiss±ma, upasaªkamitv± bhagavato etamattha½ ±rocess±m±ti. “Eva½ bhante”ti kho cundo samaºuddeso ±yasmato ±nandassa paccassosi. Buddh± nu kho paµhama½ parinibb±yanti, ud±hu aggas±vak±ti. Anuj±n±tu me bhante bhagav±, anuj±n±tu sugato. Parinibb±na k±lo me, ossaµµho me ±yusaªkh±roti. Kattha parinibb±yissasi s±riputt±ti. Atthi bhante magadhesu n±lakag±me j±tovarako, tatth±ha½ parinibb±yiss±m²ti. Yassa d±ni tva½ s±riputta k±la½ maññasi, id±ni pana te jeµµhakaniµµha bh±tik±na½ t±disassa bhikkhuno dassana½ dullabha½ bhavissati, desehi nesa½ dhammanti ±ha. Athakho ±yasm± ca ±nando cundo ca samaºuddeso yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su, upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su, ekamanta½ nisinno kho ±yasm± ±nando bhagavanta½ etadavoca “aya½ bhante cundo samaºuddeso ‘evam±ha ±yasm± bhante s±riputto parinibbuto, idamassa pattac²varan’ti. Apica me bhante ‘madhuraka j±to viya k±yo, dis±pi me na pakkh±yanti, dhamm±pi ma½ nappaµibhanti ±yasm± s±riputto parinibbuto’ti” sutv±–
Appakenapi medh±v², p±bhatena vicakkhaºo;
samuµµh±peti att±na½, aºu½ aggi½va sandhamanti.
Yo pabbaj² j±tisat±ni pañca,
pah±ya k±m±ni manoram±ni;
ta½v²tar±ga½ susam±hitindriya½;
parinibbuta½ vandatha s±riputta½.
Khantibalo pathavisamo na kuppati,
nac±pi cittassa vasena vattati;
anukampako k±ruºiko ca nibbuto,
parinibbuta½ vandatha s±riputta½.
Caº¹±laputto yath± nagara½ paviµµho,
n²camano carati ka¼opihattho;
tath± aya½ viharati s±riputto,
parinibbuta½ vandatha s±riputta½.
Usabho yath± chinnavis±ºako,
aheµµhayanto carati purantare vane;
tath± aya½ viharati s±riputto;
parinibbuta½ vandatha s±riputtanti.
Apica me bhante madhurakaj±to viya k±yo. Ki½ nukho te ±nanda s±riputto s²lakkhandha½ v± ±d±ya parinibbuto, sam±dhikkhandha½ v± ±d±ya parinibbuto, paññ±kkhandha½ v± ±d±ya parinibbuto, vimuttikkhandha½ v± ±d±ya parinibbuto, vimutti ñ±ºadassanakkhandha½ v± ±d±ya parinibbutoti. Nanu ta½ ±nanda may± paµikacceva akkh±ta½ sabbehi piyehi man± pehi n±n±bh±vo vin±bh±vo aññath±bh±vo, ta½ kutettha ±nanda labbh± “ya½ ta½ j±ta½ bh³ta½ saªkhata½ palokadhamma½, ta½ vata m±palujj²”ti neta½ µh±na½ vijjati.
