Nanu ca dassanena bh±van±y±ti imehi dv²hi appah±tabbo ±savo n±ma natthi, atha kasm± visu½ sa½var±d²hi pah±tabbe dasset²ti. Sa½var±d²hi pubbabh±ge vikkhambhit± ±sav± cat³hi maggehi samuggh±ta½ gacchanti, tasm± tesa½ magg±na½ pubbabh±ge imehi pañcah±k±rehi vikkhambhanappah±na½ dassento evam±ha. Tasm± yo c±ya½ vutto paµhamo dassanamaggoyeva, id±ni bh±van±n±mena vuccissanti tayo magg±, tesa½ sabbesampi aya½ pubbabh±gapaµipad±ti veditabb±.

S± c±ya½ “vara½, bhikkhave, tatt±ya ayosal±k±ya ±ditt±ya sampajjalit±ya sajotibh³t±ya cakkhundriya½ sampalimaµµha½, na tveva cakkhuviññeyyesu r³pesu anubyañjanaso nimittagg±ho”ti-±din± (sa½. ni. 4.235) ±dittapariy±yanayena veditabb±. Cakkhundriyasa½varasa½vuto viharat²ti ettha cakkhumeva indriya½ cakkhundriya½, sa½varaºato sa½varo, pidahanato thakanatoti vutta½ hoti. Satiy± eta½ adhivacana½. Cakkhundriye sa½varo cakkhundriyasa½varo. Titthak±ko ±v±µakacchapo vanamahi½soti-±dayo viya.
Tattha kiñc±pi cakkhundriye sa½varo v± asa½varo v± natthi. Na hi cakkhupas±da½ niss±ya sati v± muµµhasacca½ v± uppajjati. Tatthapi neva bhavaªgasamaye, na ±vajjan±d²na½ aññatarasamaye sa½varo v± asa½varo v± atthi. Javanakkhaºe pana sace duss²lya½ v± muµµhasacca½ v± aññ±ºa½ v± akkhanti v± kosajja½ v± uppajjati, aya½ asa½varo hoti. Eva½ hontopi so cakkhundriye asa½varoti vuccati. Kasm±? Tasmiñhi sati dv±rampi agutta½ hoti, bhavaªgampi ±vajjan±d²ni v²thicitt±nipi. Yath± ki½ yath± nagare cat³su dv±resu asa½vutesu kiñc±pi anto gharakoµµhakagabbh±dayo susa½vut±, tath±pi antonagare sabba½ bhaº¹a½ arakkhita½ agopitameva hoti. Nagaradv±rena hi pavisitv± cor± yadicchanti, ta½ kareyyu½, evameva javane duss²ly±d²su uppannesu, tasmi½ asa½vare sati dv±rampi agutta½ hoti, bhavaªgampi ±vajjan±d²ni v²thicitt±nip²ti.
Tasmi½ pana s²l±d²su uppannesu dv±rampi gutta½ hoti, bhavaªgampi ±vajjan±d²ni v²thicitt±nipi. Yath± ki½? Yath± nagaradv±resu susa½vutesu kiñc±pi anto ghar±dayo asa½vut±, tath±pi antonagare sabba½ bhaº¹a½ surakkhita½ sugopitameva hoti. Nagaradv±resu hi pihitesu cor±na½ paveso natthi, evameva javane s²l±d²su uppannesu dv±rampi sugutta½ hoti, bhavaªgampi ±vajjan±d²ni v²thicitt±nipi. Tasm± javanakkhaºe uppajjam±nopi cakkhundriye sa½varoti vutto. Idha c±ya½ satisa½varo adhippetoti veditabbo. Cakkhundriyasa½varena sa½vuto cakkhundriyasa½varasa½vuto, upetoti vutta½ hoti. Tath± hi, p±timokkhasa½varasa½vutoti imassa vibhaªge “imin± p±timokkhasa½varena upeto hoti…pe… samann±gato”ti (vibha. 511) vutta½. Ta½ ekajjha½ katv± cakkhundriyasa½varena sa½vutoti evamattho veditabbo.
Atha v± sa½var²ti sa½vuto, thakesi pidah²ti vutta½ hoti. Cakkhundriye sa½varasa½vuto cakkhundriyasa½varasa½vuto, cakkhundriyasa½varasaññita½ satikav±µa½ cakkhudv±re, gharadv±re kav±µa½ viya sa½vari thakesi pidah²ti vutta½ hoti. Cakkhudv±re hi iµµh±rammaºa½ ±p±thagata½ k±mass±davasena ass±dayato abhinandato k±m±savo uppajjati, ²disa½ aññasmimpi sugatibhave labhiss±m²ti bhavapatthan±ya ass±dayato bhav±savo uppajjati, sattoti v± sattass±ti v± gaºhantassa diµµh±savo uppajjati, sabbeheva sahaj±ta½ aññ±ºa½ avijj±savoti catt±ro ±sav± uppajjanti. Tehi sampayutt± apare kiles± vigh±tapari¼±h±, ±yati½ v± tesa½ vip±k±. Tepi hi asa½vutasseva viharato uppajjeyyunti vuccanti.
Eva½sa teti eva½ assa te. Eva½ etena up±yena na honti, no aññath±ti vutta½ hoti. Esa nayo paµisaªkh± yoniso sotindriyasa½varasa½vutoti-±d²su.
Ime vuccanti, bhikkhave, ±sav± sa½var± pah±tabb±ti ime chasu dv±resu catt±ro catt±ro katv± catuv²sati ±sav± sa½varena pah±tabb±ti vuccanti. Sabbattheva cettha satisa½varo eva sa½varoti veditabbo.
