Yena bhagav± tenupasaªkam²ti yen±ti bhummatthe karaºavacana½, tasm± yattha bhagav±, tattha upasaªkam²ti evamettha attho daµµhabbo. Yena v± k±raºena bhagav± devamanussehi upasaªkamitabbo, tena k±raºena upasaªkam²ti evamettha attho daµµhabbo. Kena ca k±raºena bhagav± upasaªkamitabbo? N±nappak±raguºavises±dhigam±dhipp±yena, s±duphal³pabhog±dhipp±yena dijagaºehi niccaphalitamah±rukkho viya.
Upasaªkam²ti ca gatoti vutta½ hoti. Upasaªkamitv±ti upasaªkamanapariyos±nad²pana½. Atha v± eva½ gato tato ±sannatara½ µh±na½ bhagavato sam²pasaªkh±ta½ gantv±tipi vutta½ hoti. Bhagavat± saddhi½ sammod²ti yath± khaman²y±d²ni pucchanto bhagav± tena, eva½ sopi bhagavat± saddhi½ samappavattamodo ahosi, s²todaka½ viya uºhodakena sammodita½ ek²bh±va½ agam±si. Y±ya ca “kacci te, bho gotama, khaman²ya½, kacci y±pan²ya½, kacci bhoto gotamassa gotamas±vak±nañca app±b±dha½ app±taªka½ lahuµµh±na½ bala½ ph±suvih±ro”ti-±dik±ya kath±ya sammodi, ta½ p²tip±mojjasaªkh±tasammodajananato sammoditu½ yuttabh±vato ca sammodan²ya½, atthabyañjanamadhurat±ya sucirampi k±la½ s±retu½ nirantara½ pavattetu½ arahar³pato saritabbabh±vato ca s±r±º²ya½. Ekamantanti bh±vanapu½sakaniddeso, “visama½ candimas³riy± parivattant²”ti-±d²su (a. ni. 4.70) viya. Tasm± yath± nisinno ekamanta½ nisinno hoti, tath± nis²d²ti evamettha attho daµµhabbo. Bhummatthe v± eta½ upayogavacana½. Nis²d²ti up±visi. Paº¹it± hi puris± garuµµh±niya½ upasaªkamitv± ±sanakusalat±ya ekamanta½ nis²danti, ayañca nesa½ aññataro, tasm± ekamanta½ nis²di.
Katha½ nisinno pana ekamanta½ nisinno hot²ti. Cha nisajjadose vajjetv±. Seyyathida½, atid³ra½ acc±sanna½ upariv±ta½ unnatapadesa½ atisammukha½ atipacch±ti. Atid³re nisinno hi sace kathetuk±mo hoti, ucc±saddena kathetabba½ hoti. Acc±sanne nisinno saªghaµµana½ karoti. Upariv±te nisinno sar²ragandhena b±dhati. Unnatappadese nisinno ag±rava½ pak±seti. Atisammukh± nisinno sace daµµhuk±mo hoti, cakkhun± cakkhu½ ±hacca daµµhabba½ hoti. Atipacch± nisinno sace daµµhuk±mo hoti, g²va½ pas±retv± daµµhabba½ hoti. Tasm± ayampi ete cha nisajjadose vajjetv± nis²di, tena vutta½ “ekamanta½ nis²d²”ti.
Yemeti ye ime. Kulaputt±ti duvidh± kulaputt± j±tikulaputt± ±c±rakulaputt±. Saddh±ti saddh±ya. Ag±rasm±ti ag±rato. Anag±riyanti pabbajja½ bhikkhubh±vañca. Pabbajj±pi hi natthettha ag±riyanti anag±riy±, ag±rassa hita½ kasigorakkh±dikammamettha natth²ti attho. Bhikkhupi natthetassa ag±ranti anag±ro, anag±rassa bh±vo anag±riya½. Pabbajit±ti upagat±, eva½ sabbath±pi anag±riyasaªkh±ta½ pabbajja½ bhikkhubh±va½ v± upagat±ti vutta½ hoti. Pubbaªgamoti purato g±m² n±yako. Bahuk±roti hitakiriy±ya bah³pak±ro. Bhava½ tesa½ gotamo sam±dapet±ti te kulaputte bhava½ gotamo adhis²l±d²ni g±het± sikkh±pet±. S± janat±ti so janasam³ho. Diµµh±nugati½ ±pajjat²ti dassan±nugati½ paµipajjati, yandiµµhiko bhava½ gotamo ya½khantiko ya½ruciko, tepi tandiµµhik± honti ta½khantik± ta½rucik±ti attho.
Kasm± pan±ya½ evam±h±ti? Esa kira pubbe aneke kulaputte ag±ramajjhe vasante devaputte viya pañcahi k±maguºehi paric±riyam±ne anto ca bahi ca susa½vihit±rakkhe disv±, te aparena samayena bhagavato madhurarasa½ dhammadesana½ sutv± saddh±ya ghar± nikkhamma pabbajitv± gh±sacch±danaparamat±ya santuµµhe ±raññakesu sen±sanesu kenaci arakkhiyam±nepi anussaªkit±parisaªkite haµµhapahaµµhe udaggudagge addasa, disv± ca imesa½ kulaputt±na½ “aya½ ph±suvih±ro ka½ niss±ya uppanno”ti cintento “samaºa½ gotaman”ti bhagavati pas±da½ alattha. So ta½ pas±da½ nivedetu½ bhagavato santika½ ±gato, tasm± evam±ha.
Athassa bhagav± ta½ vacana½ sampaµicchanto abbhanumodanto ca evameta½ br±hmaº±ti-±dim±ha. Vacanasampaµicchan±numodanatthoyeva hi ettha aya½ evanti nip±to. Mama½ uddiss±ti ma½ uddissa. Saddh±ti saddh±yeva. Na iºaµµh± na bhayaµµ±ti-±d²ni sandh±y±ha. ¿dis±na½yeva hi bhagav± pubbaªgamo, na itaresa½. Durabhisambhav±ni h²ti sambhavitu½ dukkh±ni dussah±ni, na sakk± appesakkhehi ajjhog±hitunti vutta½ hoti. Araññavanapatth±n²ti araññ±ni ca vanapatth±ni ca. Tattha kiñc±pi abhidhamme nippariy±yena, “nikkhamitv± bahi indakhil± sabbameta½ araññan”ti vutta½, tath±pi yanta½ “pañcadhanusatika½ pacchiman”ti ±raññikaªganipph±daka½ sen±sana½ vutta½, tadeva adhippetanti veditabba½.
Vanapatthanti g±manta½ atikkamitv± manuss±na½ anupac±raµµh±na½, yattha na kas²yati na vap²yati. Vuttampi ceta½ “vanapatthanti d³r±nameta½ sen±san±na½ adhivacana½, vanapatthanti vanasaº¹±nameta½ sen±san±na½, vanapatthanti bhi½sanak±nameta½, vanapatthanti salomaha½s±nameta½, vanapatthanti pariyant±nameta½, vanapatthanti na manuss³pac±r±nameta½ sen±san±na½ adhivacanan”ti. Ettha ca pariyant±nanti imameka½ pariy±ya½ µhapetv± sesapariy±yehi vanapatth±ni veditabb±n². Pant±n²ti pariyant±ni atid³r±ni. Dukkara½ pavivekanti k±yaviveka½ dukkara½. Durabhiramanti abhiramitu½ na sukha½. Ekatteti ek²bh±ve. Ki½ dasseti? K±yaviveke katepi tattha citta½ abhiram±petu½ dukkara½. Dvaya½dvay±r±mo hi aya½ lokoti. Haranti maññeti haranti viya ghasanti viya. Manoti mana½. Sam±dhi½ alabham±nass±ti upac±rasam±dhi½ v± appan±sam±dhi½ v± alabhantassa.
