40. “T²ºim±ni bhikkhave, ±dhipateyy±ni. Katam±ni t²ºi? Att±dhipateyya½, lok±dhipateyya½, dhamm±dhipateyya½. Katamañca, bhikkhave, att±dhipateyya½? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu araññagato v± rukkham³lagato v± suññ±g±ragato v± iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘na kho pan±ha½ c²varahetu ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito. Na piº¹ap±tahetu, na sen±sanahetu, na itibhav±bhavahetu ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito. Api ca khomhi otiººo j±tiy± jar±ya maraºena sokehi paridevehi dukkhehi domanassehi up±y±sehi, dukkhotiººo dukkhapareto. Appeva n±ma imassa kevalassa dukkhakkhandhassa antakiriy± paññ±yeth±ti. Ahañceva kho pana y±disake [y±disake v± (s². p². ka.)] k±me oh±ya ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito t±disake v± [ca (ka.)] k±me pariyeseyya½ tato v± [ca (ka.)] p±piµµhatare, na meta½ patir³pan’ti. So iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘±raddha½ kho pana me v²riya½ bhavissati asall²na½, upaµµhit± sati asammuµµh±, passaddho k±yo as±raddho, sam±hita½ citta½ ekaggan’ti. So att±na½yeva adhipati½ karitv± akusala½ pajahati, kusala½ bh±veti, s±vajja½ pajahati, anavajja½ bh±veti, suddha½ att±na½ pariharati. Ida½ vuccati, bhikkhave, att±dhipateyya½.

Mahantasmi½ kho pana lokasanniv±se santi samaºabr±hmaº± iddhimanto dibbacakkhuk± paracittaviduno. Te d³ratopi passanti, ±sann±pi na dissanti, cetas±pi citta½ paj±nanti [j±nanti (ka.)]. Tepi ma½ eva½ j±neyyu½– ‘passatha, bho, ima½ kulaputta½ saddh± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito sam±no vokiººo viharati p±pakehi akusalehi dhammeh²’ti. Devat±pi kho santi iddhimantiniyo dibbacakkhuk± paracittaviduniyo. T± d³ratopi passanti, ±sann±pi na dissanti, cetas±pi citta½ j±nanti. T±pi ma½ eva½ j±neyyu½– ‘passatha, bho, ima½ kulaputta½ saddh± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito sam±no vokiººo viharati p±pakehi akusalehi dhammeh²’ti. So iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘±raddha½ kho pana me v²riya½ bhavissati asall²na½, upaµµhit± sati asammuµµh±, passaddho k±yo as±raddho, sam±hita½ citta½ ekaggan’ti. So loka½yeva adhipati½ karitv± akusala½ pajahati, kusala½ bh±veti, s±vajja½ pajahati, anavajja½ bh±veti, suddha½ att±na½ pariharati. Ida½ vuccati, bhikkhave, lok±dhipateyya½.

Sv±kkh±to bhagavat± dhammo sandiµµhiko ak±liko ehipassiko opaneyyiko paccatta½ veditabbo viññ³h²ti. Santi kho pana me sabrahmac±r² j±na½ passa½ viharanti. Ahañceva kho pana eva½ sv±kkh±te dhammavinaye pabbajito sam±no kus²to vihareyya½ pamatto, na meta½ assa patir³pan’ti. So iti paµisañcikkhati– ‘±raddha½ kho pana me v²riya½ bhavissati asall²na½, upaµµhit± sati asammuµµh±, passaddho k±yo as±raddho, sam±hita½ citta½ ekaggan’ti. So dhamma½yeva adhipati½ karitv± akusala½ pajahati, kusala½ bh±veti, s±vajja½ pajahati, anavajja½ bh±veti, suddha½ att±na½ pariharati. Ida½ vuccati, bhikkhave, dhamm±dhipateyya½. Im±ni kho, bhikkhave, t²ºi ±dhipateyy±n²”ti.
“Natthi loke raho n±ma, p±pakamma½ pakubbato;
att± te purisa j±n±ti, sacca½ v± yadi v± mus±.
“Kaly±ºa½ vata bho sakkhi, att±na½ atimaññasi;
yo santa½ attani p±pa½, att±na½ parig³hasi.
“Passanti dev± ca tath±gat± ca,
lokasmi½ b±la½ visama½ caranta½;
tasm± hi att±dhipateyyako ca [att±dhipako sako care (s². sy±. ka½. p².)],
lok±dhipo ca nipako ca jh±y².
“Dhamm±dhipo ca anudhammac±r²,
na h²yati saccaparakkamo muni;
pasayha m±ra½ abhibhuyya antaka½,
yo ca phus² j±tikkhaya½ padh±nav±;
so t±diso lokavid³ sumedho,
sabbesu dhammesu atammayo mun²”ti. Dasama½.
