Tasm± pathavi½ na maññati…pe… pathavi½ n±bhinandat²ti vad±m²ti eva½ abhisambuddhatt± na maññati n±bhinandat²ti vad±m²ti vutta½ hoti. Atha bhagav± gandhakuµiy± nikkhamitv± taªkhaº±nur³pena p±µih±riyena dhammasabh±ya½ paññattavarabuddh±sane nis²ditv± te bhikkh³ ±ha– “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti. Te tamattha½ bhagavato ±rocesu½. Bhagav± etadavoca– “na, bhikkhave, id±neva, pubbepi aha½ ime eva½ m±napaggahitasire vicarante nihatam±ne ak±sin”ti. Sopi br±hmaºo ±cariyamuµµhi½ akatv± ghaµe udaka½ ±siñcanto viya sabbampi sippa½ uggaºh±petv± te m±ºavake etadavoca “ettakamida½ sippa½ diµµhadhammasampar±yahitan”ti. Te m±ºavak±– “ya½ amh±ka½ ±cariyo j±n±ti, mayampi ta½ j±n±ma, mayampi d±ni ±cariy± ev±”ti m±na½ upp±detv± tato pabhuti ±cariye ag±rav± nikkhittavatt± vihari½su. ¾cariyo ñatv± “kariss±mi nesa½ m±naniggahan”ti cintesi. So ekadivasa½ upaµµh±na½ ±gantv± vanditv± nisinne te m±ºavake ±ha “t±t± pañha½ pucchiss±mi, kaccittha samatth± kathetun”ti. Atha nesa½ ahirikabh±va½ passitv± ±cariyo “uggaºhatha t±t± pañhan”ti pañha½ vissajjesi. K±loti purebhattak±lopi pacch±bhattak±lop²ti evam±di. Bh³t±n²ti satt±dhivacanameta½. K±lo hi bh³t±na½ na cammama½s±d²ni kh±dati, apica kho nesa½ ±yuvaººabal±ni khepento yobbañña½ maddanto ±rogya½ vin±sento ghasati kh±dat²ti vuccati. Sabb±neva sahattan±ti eva½ ghasanto ca na kiñci vajjeti, sabb±neva ghasati. Na kevalañca bh³t±niyeva, apica kho sahattan± att±nampi ghasati. Purebhattak±lo hi pacch±bhattak±la½ na p±puº±ti. Esa nayo pacch±bhattak±l±d²su. Yo ca k±laghaso bh³toti kh²º±savasseta½ adhivacana½. So hi ±yati½ paµisandhik±la½ khepetv± kh±ditv± µhitatt± “k±laghaso”ti vuccati. Sa bh³tapacani½ pac²ti so y±ya½ taºh± ap±yesu bh³te pacati, ta½ ñ±ºaggin± paci dayhi bhasmamak±si, tena “bh³tapacani½ pac²”ti vuccati. “Pajanin”tipi p±µho. Janika½ nibbattikanti attho. Imañca j±taka½ sutv± te bhikkh³ pubbepi maya½ m±neneva upahat±ti bhiyyosomatt±ya nihatam±n± hutv± attano upak±rakakammaµµh±napar±yaº± ahesu½. Tato bhagav± eka½ samaya½ janapadac±rika½ caranto ves±li½ patv± gotamake cetiye viharanto imesa½ pañcasat±na½ bhikkh³na½ ñ±ºaparip±ka½ viditv± ima½ gotamakasutta½ kathesi– “Abhiññ±y±ha½, bhikkhave, dhamma½ desemi no anabhiññ±ya, sanid±n±ha½…pe… sapp±µih±riy±ha½, bhikkhave, dhamma½ desemi no app±µih±riya½. Tassa mayha½, bhikkhave, abhiññ±ya dhamma½ desayato…pe… no app±µih±riya½. Karaº²yo ov±do, karaº²y± anus±san². Alañca pana vo, bhikkhave, tuµµhiy± ala½ attamanat±ya ala½ somanass±ya. Samm±sambuddho bhagav±, sv±kkh±to dhammo, suppaµipanno saªghoti. Idamavoca bhagav±, imasmiñca pana veyy±karaºasmi½ bhaññam±ne dasasahassilokadh±tu akampitth±”ti (a. ni. 3.126).
