Ya½ ajjhatta½ paccatta½ kakkha¼a½ kharigatan”ti-±d²su (vibha. 173) vutt± lakkhaºapathav². “Pathavi½ khaºeyya v± khaº±peyya v±”ti-±d²su (p±ci. 85) vutt± sasambh±rapathav². Pathavi½ pathavito saññatv±ti so ta½ pathavi½ eva½ vipar²tasaññ±ya sañj±nitv±, “saññ±nid±n± hi papañcasaªkh±”ti (su. ni. 880) vacanato aparabh±ge th±mapattehi taºh±m±nadiµµhipapañcehi idha maññan±n±mena vuttehi maññati kappeti vikappeti, n±nappak±rato aññath± gaºh±ti. Tena vutta½ “pathavi½ maññat²”ti. Eva½ maññato cassa t± maññan± o¼±rikanayena dassetu½ “y± aya½ kes± lom±”ti-±din± nayena v²satibhed± ajjhattik± pathav² vutt±. Y± c±ya½ vibhaªge “tattha katam± b±hir± pathav²dh±tu? Ya½ b±hira½ kakkha¼a½ kharigata½ kakkha¼atta½ kakkha¼abh±vo bahiddh± anup±dinna½. Pathavi½ maññat²ti t²hi maññan±hi aha½ pathav²ti maññati, mama pathav²ti maññati, paro pathav²ti maññati, parassa pathav²ti maññati, atha v± ajjhattika½ pathavi½ taºh±maññan±ya maññati, m±namaññan±ya maññati, diµµhimaññan±ya maññati. Katha½? Ayañhi kes±d²su chandar±ga½ janeti kese ass±deti abhinandati abhivadati ajjhos±ya tiµµhati. Lome, nakhe, dante, taca½, aññatara½ v± pana rajjan²yavatthu½. Eva½ ajjhattika½ pathavi½ taºh±maññan±ya maññati. Iti me kes± siyu½ an±gatamaddh±na½. Iti lom±ti-±din± v± pana nayena tattha nandi½ samann±neti. “Imin±ha½ s²lena v±…pe… brahmacariyena v± eva½ siniddhamudusukhuman²lakeso bhaviss±m²”ti-±din± v± pana nayena appaµiladdh±na½ paµil±bh±ya citta½ paºidahati. Evampi ajjhattika½ pathavi½ taºh±maññan±ya maññati.
Tath± attano kes±d²na½ sampatti½ v± vipatti½ v± niss±ya m±na½ janeti, “seyyohamasm²ti v± sadisohamasm²ti v± h²nohamasm²ti v±”ti. Eva½ ajjhattika½ pathavi½ m±namaññan±ya maññati. “Ta½ j²va½ ta½ sar²ran”ti (ma. ni. 2.187) ±gatanayena pana kesa½ “j²vo”ti abhinivisati. Esa nayo lom±d²su. Eva½ ajjhattika½ pathavi½ diµµhimaññan±ya maññati.
Atha v± “y± ceva kho pan±vuso, ajjhattik± pathav²dh±tu, y± ca b±hir± pathav²dh±tu, pathav²dh±tureves± ta½ neta½ mam±”ti (ma. ni. 1.302) imiss± pavattiy± paccan²kanayena kes±dibheda½ pathavi½ eta½ mama esohamasmi eso me att±ti abhinivisati. Evampi ajjhattika½ pathavi½ diµµhimaññan±ya maññati. Eva½ t±va ajjhattika½ pathavi½ t²hi maññan±hi maññati.
Yath± ca ajjhattika½ eva½ b±hirampi. Katha½? “Ayañhi ayaloh±d²su chandar±ga½ janeti. Ayaloh±d²ni ass±deti abhinandati abhivadati ajjhos±ya tiµµhati. Mama ayo mama lohanti-±din± nayena ay±d²ni mam±yati rakkhati gopayati, eva½ b±hira½ pathavi½ taºh±maññan±ya maññati. Iti me ayaloh±dayo siyu½ an±gatamaddh±nanti v± panettha nandi½ samann±neti, imin±ha½ s²lena v± vatena v± tapena v± brahmacariyena v± eva½ sampanna-ayaloh±di-upakaraºo bhaviss±m²”ti appaµiladdhassa paµil±bh±ya citta½ paºidahati. Evampi b±hira½ pathavi½ taºh±maññan±ya maññati.
Tath± attano ayaloh±d²na½ sampatti½ v± vipatti½ v± niss±ya m±na½ janeti “imin±ha½ seyyosm²ti v±, sadisosm²ti v± h²nosm²ti v±”ti (vibha. 832) eva½ b±hira½ pathavi½ m±namaññan±ya maññati. Aye j²vasaññ² hutv± pana aya½ “j²vo”ti abhinivisati. Esa nayo loh±d²su. Eva½ b±hira½ pathavi½ diµµhimaññan±ya maññati.
Atha v± “idhekacco pathav²kasiºa½ attato samanupassati. Ya½ pathav²kasiºa½, so aha½. Yo aha½, ta½ pathav²kasiºanti pathav²kasiºañca attañca advaya½ samanupassat²”ti (paµi. ma. 1.131) paµisambhid±ya½ vuttanayeneva nimittapathavi½ “att±”ti abhinivisati. Eva½ b±hira½ pathavi½ diµµhimaññan±ya maññati. Evampi b±hira½ pathavi½ t²hi maññan±hi maññati. Eva½ t±va “pathavi½ maññat²”ti ettha tissopi maññan± veditabb±. Ito para½ saªkhepeneva kathayiss±ma.
Pathaviy± maññat²ti ettha pathaviy±ti bhummavacanameta½. Tasm± aha½ pathaviy±ti maññati, mayha½ kiñcana½ palibodho pathaviy±ti maññati, paro pathaviy±ti maññati, parassa kiñcana½ palibodho pathaviy±ti maññat²ti ayamettha attho.
Atha v± yv±ya½ “katha½ r³pasmi½ att±na½ samanupassati? Idhekacco vedana½… sañña½… saªkh±re… viññ±ºa½ attato samanupassati, tassa eva½ hoti, aya½ kho me att±, so kho pana me att± imasmi½ r³peti eva½ r³pasmi½ v± att±na½ samanupassat²”ti (paµi. ma. 1.131) etassa atthanayo vutto, eteneva nayena vedan±didhamme attato gahetv± tato ajjhattikab±hir±su pathav²su ya½kiñci pathavi½ tassok±sabh±vena parikappetv± so kho pana me aya½ att± imiss± pathaviy±ti maññanto pathaviy± maññati, ayamassa diµµhimaññan±. Tasmi½yeva panassa attani sineha½ tabbatthukañca m±na½ upp±dayato taºh±m±namaññan±pi veditabb±. Yad± pana teneva nayena so kho panassa att± pathaviy±ti maññati, tad± diµµhimaññan± eva yujjati. Itar±yopi pana icchanti.
Pathavito maññat²ti ettha pana pathavitoti nissakkavacana½. Tasm± sa-upakaraºassa attano v± parassa v± yath±vuttappabhedato pathavito uppatti½ v± niggamana½ v± pathavito v± añño att±ti maññam±no pathavito maññat²ti veditabbo, ayamassa diµµhimaññan±. Tasmi½yeva panassa diµµhimaññan±ya maññite vatthusmi½ sineha½ m±nañca upp±dayato taºh±m±namaññan±pi veditabb±. Apare ±hu pathav²kasiºa½ paritta½ bh±vetv± tato añña½ appam±ºa½ att±na½ gahetv± pathavito bahiddh±pi me att±ti maññam±no pathavito maññat²ti.
Pathavi½ meti maññat²ti ettha pana kevalañhi mah±pathavi½ taºh±vasena mam±yat²ti imin± nayena pavatt± ek± taºh±maññan± eva labbhat²ti veditabb±. S± c±ya½ mama kes±, mama lom±, mama ayo, mama lohanti eva½ yath±vuttappabhed±ya sabb±yapi ajjhattikab±hir±ya pathaviy± yojetabb±ti.
Pathavi½ abhinandat²ti vuttappak±rameva pathavi½ taºh±d²hi abhinandati, ass±deti, par±masati c±ti vutta½ hoti. “Pathavi½ maññat²”ti eteneva etasmi½ atthe siddhe kasm± eta½ vuttanti ce. Avic±ritameta½ por±ºehi. Aya½ pana attano mati, desan±vil±sato v± ±d²navadassanato v±. Yass± hi dhammadh±tuy± suppaµividdhatt± n±n±nayavicitradesan±vil±sasampanno, aya½ s± bhagavat± suppaµividdh±. Tasm± pubbe maññan±vasena kilesuppatti½ dassetv± id±ni abhinandan±vasena dassento desan±vil±sato v± idam±ha Yo v± pathavi½ maññati, pathaviy± maññati, pathavito maññati, pathavi½ meti maññati, so yasm± na sakkoti pathav²nissita½ taºha½ v± diµµhi½ v± pah±tu½, tasm± pathavi½ abhinandatiyeva. Yo ca pathavi½ abhinandati, dukkha½ so abhinandati, dukkhañca ±d²navoti ±d²navadassanatopi idam±ha. Vuttañceta½ bhagavat± “yo, bhikkhave, pathav²dh±tu½ abhinandati, dukkha½ so abhinandati, yo dukkha½ abhinandati, aparimutto so dukkhasm±ti vad±m²”ti.
Eva½ pathav²vatthuka½ maññana½ abhinandanañca vatv± id±ni yena k±raºena so maññati, abhinandati ca, ta½ k±raºa½ ±vikaronto ±ha ta½ kissa hetu, apariññ±ta½ tass±ti vad±m²ti. Tassattho, so puthujjano ta½ pathavi½ kissa hetu maññati, kena k±raºena maññati, abhinandat²ti ce. Apariññ±ta½ tass±ti vad±m²ti, yasm± ta½ vatthu tassa apariññ±ta½, tasm±ti vutta½ hoti. Yo hi pathavi½ parij±n±ti, so t²hi pariññ±hi parij±n±ti ñ±tapariññ±ya t²raºapariññ±ya pah±napariññ±y±ti.
Tattha katam± ñ±tapariññ±. Pathav²dh±tu½ parij±n±ti, aya½ pathav²dh±tu ajjhattik±, aya½ b±hir±, idamass± lakkhaºa½, im±ni rasapaccupaµµh±napadaµµh±n±n²ti, aya½ ñ±tapariññ±. Katam± t²raºapariññ±? Eva½ ñ±ta½ katv± pathav²dh±tu½ t²reti aniccato dukkhato rogatoti dv±catt±l²s±ya ±k±rehi, aya½ t²raºapariññ±. Katam± pah±napariññ±? Eva½ t²rayitv± aggamaggena pathav²dh±tuy± chandar±ga½ pajahati, aya½ pah±napariññ±.
N±mar³pavavatth±na½ v± ñ±tapariññ±. Kal±pasammasan±di-anulomapariyos±n± t²raºapariññ±. Ariyamagge ñ±ºa½ pah±napariññ±ti. Yo pathavi½ parij±n±ti, so im±hi t²hi pariññ±hi parij±n±ti, assa ca puthujjanassa t± pariññ±yo natthi, tasm± apariññ±tatt± pathavi½ maññati ca abhinandati c±ti. Ten±ha bhagav±– idha, bhikkhave, assutav± puthujjano…pe… pathavi½ maññati, pathaviy± maññati, pathavito maññati, pathavi½ meti maññati, pathavi½ abhinandati. Ta½ kissa hetu? Apariññ±ta½ tass±ti vad±m²”ti.
